Operation Christmas Child

collection week is November 17-24, 2025

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease.

Good News Church participates yearly in Operation Christmas Child by packing shoebox gifts, which are used as a tangible way to preach the Gospel to children around the world. Families and small groups are encouraged to participate by packing and dropping off a shoebox at their campus by the last Sunday of National Collection Week, which is November 23, 2025.

Good News Church hosts packing parties for our Kids and Youth ministries at our World Golf Village campus to give them an opportunity to pack additional shoeboxes as a part of their weekly fellowship and learning. The Operation Christmas Child central drop-off location for the St. Johns County region is also hosted at our World Golf Village (WGV) campus. This serves as the location for area churches to bring their shoeboxes to be loaded shipped to a Samaritan’s Purse Processing Center

Please review the details below to learn more about how you can participate.

Packing Parties

We will host a packing party for Student Ministry on November 5th and for Kids Ministry during service on November 9th, both at the WGV campus.

For 2025, we plan to pack and ship 200 shoeboxes during our packing parties. In order to provide the suggested $10 donation with each shoebox, please donate directly to Samaritan’s Purse, if you would like to help cover costs with a gift above and beyond your regular giving.

We have set up an Amazon Registry where you can find the items we are praying for to make our packing party a success. If you would like to donate items such as toys, school supplies, or hygiene items, you can purchase them through the registry, and they will be shipped directly to us. Otherwise, you can drop any shoebox items off at the OCC table at the WGV campus.

drop-off location

We need Gospel Partners to serve during National Collection Week to help us operate the St. Johns County region central drop-off location. Areas you can help include greeting and praying with community members who are dropping off shoeboxes, packing shoeboxes into shipping cartons, or loading cartons into our trailer. Please see our hours of operation and sign up on the sheet at our table in the WGV lobby, or email Megan Hackl at megan.hackl@gmail.com.
